CMS Security Viewer Report

21 April 2010

Everyone familiar with the Security Viewer in XIR2 knows that no such facility exists in XI3 to easily inspect user/object security outside of the CMC or Security Queries - that is, until now.

In today's CMS/Report we deliver the CMS Security by Folder analysis.  This report reveals:

  • Who has access to what folders?
  • What folders have been granted access to X?
  • What folder(s) does User A have access to  ?
  • What folder(s) does User Group B have access to?

The report has three core tabs:

  1. CMS Security Layout Tab: A complete hierarchical (tree) view of all folders within the CMS and the security assigned to each folder by User and User Group
  2. CMS Security Folder Matrix: A condensed view of complete folder paths in the CMS and the related user/usergroup's role for that folder
  3. CMS Security Excel Export: Similar to the matrix report but intended for export to Excel.

We'll post more use cases/modifications of the report - but in the meantime, be sure to double-click, and just hit "refresh" !  Depending on the # of user/usergroups/folders in your CMS it could take a few moments as data being returned is completely real-time.

**Note: this report requires the CMS/Connect Enterprise Edition trial available on request from the downloads section.

Enjoy!
