Universe may or may not have restrictions. Restrictions are given a name and represent one or more constraints that filter the data a user sees when reporting with a Universe. For example, if a user is only allowed to see East Region data, there may be a row-level restriction on the SALES_METRICS.REGION column where SALES_METRICS.REGION = 'East'. Restrictions can also be in the form of included/excluded Universe objects where one user can develop reports with the Sales Revenue universe object and another cannot.
