BI Environments table

Column Content for a Power BI environment
Enabled Check box. Only enabled environments are collected and appear in the MetaMiner Client (MMC).
Name The environment display name
Host The tenant ID
Version Set when validation succeeds
Username The optional delegated user, empty when not set
Status Result of the last validation, for example Validated or Failed
Audit DB Not used for Power BI

The toolbar above the table holds Add Power BI, Edit and Delete, plus add buttons for other platforms your license includes. Right-click a row for the same actions. A counter shows how many environments are enabled.

Add Power BI needs a stopped server

Add Power BI is disabled while the MetaMiner Server runs. Click Stop Server first. See Add an Environment.

Enabled environment limit

Your license sets how many environments can be enabled at the same time. If you try to enable more, MMA shows "Can not enable connection! Only up to n enabled connections are allowed at the same time." Disable another environment first.

PostgreSQL 16 or newer

Power BI environments need an MMDB on PostgreSQL 16 or newer. On an older database MMA refuses to enable a Power BI environment and disables enabled ones automatically. See External PostgreSQL.

What happens at startup

When MMA opens it:

  1. Checks the license.
  2. Tests the MMDB connection.
  3. Validates every environment in parallel and updates the Status column. For Power BI this runs the full check described in Validate the Connection.
  4. Saves the validation results once, after all checks finish.

A failed environment validation does not block the others or the server.
