Usage Dashboards

The Power BI Usage web app shows how your Power BI and Fabric tenant is used, maintained, governed and licensed, in a browser, from the data MetaMiner collects.

The dashboards are served by the MetaMiner Server (MMS) at /web/pbiusage/ on the MMS port. This section also covers two more browser apps that work in a Power BI deployment: Monitor (health of the MetaMiner Server itself) and Meta Query on the web (read-only SQL over the MetaMiner Database).

Access

  • Enable the Dashboards

Check the Web Apps service, the Power BI Usage switch, and open the app from a browser or the MetaMiner Client.

  • Scope and Sign-In

Limit the user-population figures to one Entra group, and control who can reach the dashboards.

  • Data Freshness

What the data-state notes mean, how often the figures are rebuilt, and when they count as stale.

Power BI Usage

  • Command Center

Command Center: inventory and refresh KPIs, daily activity, top operations and workspaces, capacity fleet.

  • Activity

User Activity and System Load: active identities, power users, hour-of-day and weekday patterns.

  • Content Health

Stale and unused reports, workspaces to archive, orphaned and never-updated content.

  • Semantic Models

Semantic Models: refresh volume, success rate, slow and wasted refreshes, failure reasons.

  • Data Sources

Datasource types, shadow-BI exposure, gateway binding, misconfigured bindings, connection security.

  • Governance

Sensitivity labels, endorsement, schema drift, lineage integrity, ownership, Fabric estate, app coverage.

  • Users and Licenses

Users & Licenses: idle paid seats, never-active and disabled users, adoption funnel, guests and sharing.

  • Executive

Platform health score, estimated monthly waste, shadow BI, chargeback, key-person risk, action roadmap.

  • Capacity Metrics

Capacity Metrics: utilization, throttling and CU mix per Fabric capacity, from the Fabric Capacity Metrics app.

More Web Apps

  • Monitor

CPU, memory, heap and disk of the MetaMiner Server and the size of the MetaMiner Database.

  • Meta Query on the Web

A browser SQL workbench for read-only queries against the MetaMiner Database.
