BusinessObjects System Configuration

Field Required What it does
Display name Yes Name shown in MMA and in the MetaMiner Client (MMC)
CMS Host Yes CMS host name. Use host:port when the CMS does not listen on 6400. Each host can be added once.
CMS ID Read-only Shown when editing. The identifier MetaMiner assigned to the environment.
BI LaunchPad No Base URL of the BusinessObjects web tier, for example https://bi.example.com:8443. Used by MMC for Open in Browser, universe remap and report validation. Must start with http:// or https://.
REST API URL No Address of the Web Intelligence RESTful Web Service. See REST API URL.
Custom URL No Check to type the REST API URL yourself instead of auto-discovering it
Test REST - Checks the REST service and reads sample documents. See Validate an Environment.
Custom BOE app name No Web application name appended to BI LaunchPad for document links on BI 4.x. Default BOE.
Username / Password Yes The BusinessObjects account MetaMiner uses for all pulls and actions
Use WinAD auth No Log on with Windows AD authentication (secWinAD) instead of Enterprise authentication (secEnterprise)
Description No Free text for administrators

Use a dedicated account

Use an Administrator-level account that is not the built-in Administrator, for example MetaMinerAdmin, and make sure it is not set to change its password at next logon.

Passwords are stored encrypted

MMA stores passwords encrypted in config.json. To protect the whole file, see Encrypting the Configuration.

REST API URL

MetaMiner reads Web Intelligence documents through the BusinessObjects RESTful Web Service.

Leave Custom URL unchecked. MetaMiner asks the CMS for the RESTful Web Service address that the web tier (WACS) registered. After a successful test, the discovered address is shown in REST API URL.

Check Custom URL and type the address, for example https://bi-rest.example.com:6405/biprws. Use this when the registered address is an internal or load-balancer name the MetaMiner Server cannot reach. Without a port, https uses 443 and http uses 80.

If the REST service uses a certificate the MetaMiner Server does not trust, Test REST shows the certificate and offers to trust it. See Trusted Certificates.

Test User tab

Field What it does
Enable Override for Report Testing Turns on an alternate BusinessObjects account for report testing
Username / Password The alternate account

TODO: confirm which features use the Test User account

The fields are stored with the environment, but no server or client feature reading them was found in the current code. Confirm with product before documenting behaviour.

User logon tab

The User logon tab controls whether MMC users log on to BusinessObjects with their own account (Mode, Authentication, Remember logon (days, 0 = never)). It is a security setting; see BusinessObjects User Logon.

Tools tab

Export DocGraph... captures the raw Web Intelligence REST responses for a list of document CUIDs or SI_IDs into one zip, using the connection settings in the dialog. It is a read-only diagnostic for Infolytik Support: no pull, no database writes.
