Full and Update Installers

MetaMiner ships three installers; this page shows what each one changes so you can pick the right one for an upgrade.

The installers

Full installer Update installer Client-only installer

The full installer empties the lib folders

Any file you added to server\lib or client\lib (for example a custom JDBC driver) is deleted. Keep custom files elsewhere and re-apply them after the upgrade, or ask support for the supported location.

Which one to use

Use the full installer whenever the release changes the Java runtime, launchers, third-party libraries or the bundled PostgreSQL. The release notes state which installers apply.

TODO: confirm how the update installer reports an unsupported starting build

Confirm the message the update installer shows when the installed build is older than 6462, and whether it can be overridden.

TODO: confirm that the client-only installer keeps MetaMiner.ini memory settings

The full and update installers carry over -Xms, -Xmx and -D lines. Confirm the same for the client-only installer.
