Context Menus

Right-click any row in a MetaMiner Client (MMC) tab to see the actions that apply to the selected objects; this page explains how those menus behave and where each one is documented.

How it works

The client builds the menu each time you right-click, from the rows you selected:

  • An action appears only when it applies to the selected object types. For example Crystal Logon Info... appears only for Crystal reports and publications.
  • An action is greyed out, or missing, when your MetaMiner account lacks the permission for it on that object's environment. See Permissions Reference.
  • Some actions depend on your license edition. A Basic Edition license, for example, limits several actions to one object at a time. See Editions and Licensing.
  • When the selection mixes objects from several environments, actions that work on one environment at a time (such as Save) are not offered.
  • When the selection includes an environment row plus other rows, no menu is shown. Select the environment row alone.

Copy Text and Copy Full Path

Item Copies to the clipboard
Copy Text The text of the cell you right-clicked
Copy Full Path The folder path of the object from the environment root

Open in New Tab opens the selected folders in a separate, closable CMS Explorer tab with its own filters.

Option Result
Selection Only The new tab shows only the selected rows
Selection and Children The new tab shows the selected rows and everything under them

The new tab is a copy: objects added to BusinessObjects later are not shown there. A new tab holds at most 50,000 rows by default; above that the client reports Limit Exceeded. Your administrator can change the cap with the client system variable cmsexplorer.new_tab.row.limit. See Client System Variables.
