Tabs

Each tab is one work area. Tabs appear only after you connect, in this fixed order, and only when the conditions in the table are met.

Tab Shown when Page
CMS Explorer License includes the BusinessObjects client features, and at least one BusinessObjects environment is loaded CMS Explorer
Users Same as CMS Explorer Users and Groups
Servers A BusinessObjects environment is loaded, and you hold Tab: Servers Servers
Visual Diff BusinessObjects client license, and you hold Tab: Visual Diff Visual Diff
Security Diff BusinessObjects client license, a BusinessObjects environment is loaded, and you hold Tab: Security Diff Security Diff
Impact Analysis - DB BusinessObjects client license, a BusinessObjects environment is loaded, and you hold Tab: Impact Analysis DB Database Impact
Alerts BusinessObjects client license, and you hold Tab: Alerts Alerts
Meta Query BusinessObjects client license, and you hold Tab: Meta Query Meta Query
Backup/Promote BusinessObjects client license, you hold Tab: Backup/Promote, and you did not load only Power BI environments Backup and Restore
Report Validation License includes Report Validation, a BusinessObjects environment is loaded, and you hold Tab: Report Validation Report Validation

The CMS Explorer and Users tabs are not shown with a Professional Edition license. See Editions and Licensing.

Some tabs open but show a "not licensed" overlay when the license lacks the feature, for example Backup/Promote without the backup and promote option.

How permissions decide tab visibility

Permissions are granted per environment in the MetaMiner Administrator (MMA). See Permissions Reference.

  • When the MMS does not use MetaMiner user security, every permission is granted.
  • Tab: Servers, Tab: Security Diff, Tab: Impact Analysis DB and Tab: Report Validation must be granted on every BusinessObjects environment you load.
  • Tab: Alerts, Tab: Backup/Promote, Tab: Meta Query and Tab: Visual Diff apply to all environment types. They must be granted on every environment you load, whatever its type.

Tip

If a tab disappears after you enable one more environment in the Connection Manager, your account lacks that tab's permission on the new environment.

Closable tabs

Some actions open extra tabs with a close button, for example Open in New Tab, Explore Security, View Relationships, Impact Analysis and Meta Query Show as Tree. These tabs work on a copy of the data at the time you opened them. Close them when you are done.
