Repair and Uninstall¶
Reinstall MetaMiner over an existing installation to repair its program files, or remove MetaMiner from a host.
Before you begin¶
- Local administrator rights on the host.
- A backup of
server\config\,server\licenses\and the MetaMiner Database if you might need them again. See Back Up and Restore MMDB.
Repair an installation¶
There is no separate repair mode. To repair damaged or missing program files, run the full installer of the same build into the existing folder.
- Right-click the full installer and choose Run as administrator.
- Install into the existing folder, normally
C:\Program Files\Infolytik\MetaMiner. The installer replacesjre\,server\lib\,client\lib\and the other program files, keeps configuration, licenses, logs and MMDB data, and re-registers the services. - Start the server from the MetaMiner Administrator.
TODO: confirm that reinstalling the same build is the supported repair procedure
Confirm with engineering, and state whether any file under server\config\ is ever reset by a reinstall.
Uninstall¶
- Back up anything you want to keep (see above).
- Open Windows Settings > Apps (or Control Panel > Programs and Features), select Infolytik MetaMiner and choose Uninstall.
- Follow the uninstaller.
It stops the MetaMiner service and processes, removes the registration of the embedded database service
InfolytikPostgres, removes the program files and removes themetaminerservice. - To remove the remaining data, delete the installation folder after the uninstaller finishes.

The MetaMiner Database data folder is kept
The uninstaller never deletes server\data\mmdb\. This protects your metadata from an accidental uninstall. Delete the folder yourself only when you are sure you no longer need it.
TODO: confirm what remains after uninstall
Confirm whether server\config\, server\licenses\, server\logs\ and the MetaMinerWebApps and MetaMinerFSS service registrations remain after the uninstaller finishes, and list them here.
Verify¶
- After a repair: the server starts and clients connect.
- After an uninstall: Windows Services no longer lists
metaminerorInfolytikPostgres.
Troubleshooting¶
The embedded database service is still listed after uninstall
Stop it in Windows Services, then remove it from an elevated command prompt with sc delete InfolytikPostgres. Use the service name your installation used if you changed it.
